Chapter 8 of An Elephant is up! We’re getting closer!
Test Pressing Try #3. There are still several unwanted loud pops on side A of this test pressing. The plant re-cut the A-Side Laquer and is obtaining a new stamper. It’s been there for three months today so they are working hard to get it right and get it done. Thanks so much those of you who ordered and have waited this long. It’s really amazing how much support you were willing to give this and we don’t take it for granted.
We will unofficially have books and CDS at the next few shows including one tomorrow in Denton with Sacred Destinies (Charlyne Yi and Jet Elfman)https://www.facebook.com/events/1480529658899067/
I say unofficially, because the proper release show on November 15 is going to be super official. We’ve already started prepping for the massive amount of officialness. From now until then, each performance will be like the release show’s training academy courses, and by the time Nov 15th comes around it will have a badge and uniform. I’m sure this all makes sense to everyone so I won’t go back and read what I wrote to make sure.
I’m only going to to pre-sell ten more yellow vinyl in the online store! After that there will be only be brown and black copies. I also put up a $25 one click option to buy just the vinyl book and CD. The $30 option with a T-Shirt will be coming down tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who bought something so far! Pieces should be coming in soon.
Q:can I perhaps steal your new album off of the internet for free dollars
You can do anything you like anonymous friend… assuming that it is actually popular enough to track down and steal (I would be surprised if it was)
Are you are asking if I feel bad about people downloading Fishboy music for free? No and Yes. I am ultimately happy that anyone is listening/reading/watching anything I do however they can, and especially happy if they share it with others.
With that said, I am only able to keep making things because Fishboy makes juuust enough money to slowly break even on every project and fund the next one. When I say slowly, I mean sometimes it takes years.
Right now the new album/book is about half way to breaking even on production costs which are higher than usual for this album because we are self releasing it and paying for everything without a label or crowd funding. Also, funding a book/vinyl/cds/shirts all at once adds up.
This doesn’t count all the money we spent on renting an awesome studio, engineer and mastering technician to make it sound incredible. It also doesn’t count the year and a half I spent writing, the year the band rehearsed, and the 6 months I spent drawing the 160 pages for the comic.
I’m not trying to make you feel bad, it was my choice to spend all of this time and money to try and make the best Fishboy album yet (we did it!) I’m just pointing out that we are a tiny band, we don’t have outside support, we didn’t do a kickstarter, we used all of our money, and we could probably use some help making it back. :)
I try to put enough free content on my site (tons of comics, gifs, videos, streams of our entire 11 year catalog) that if some one is debating about whether or not to buy a piece of merchandise or pay for a download, they look back at everything and decide “sure, this is probably worth it.” I also price our stuff very fairly and include personal bonus items in every package. Plus, if you buy anything you get a free digital comic! ok, I’ll stop rambling.
Bottom line: If you like something by Fishboy (or any other artist) please consider:
1) letting people know by sharing it
2) letting the artist know (it makes us feel good)
3) paying for it when you can

music reviews by my Dad:
IMAVOLCANO 7” EP by Fishboy
I was struck by the almost satirical culture clash: two seemingly antagonistic subcultures thrown together in close quarters—made closer and muggier by a rare August rain.
How exactly the indie rock/punk rock festival called “Growing Up…
Here’s an incredibly well written review of IMAVOLCANO by Chuck Redman: father of the original two members of Watercolor Paintings. I handed him a copy at Growing Up is Dumb Vol 2 at the American Legion Hall in Pamona, CA when I spotted him with his kids.

It seems like it’s been forever since I wrote about North Texas’ Fishboy, and in fact it has (3 years!). Luckily, they’re readying a brand new album and graphic novel titled An Elephant, and I’m hoping it gets them a little love over the Interwebs. This track has a pretty rocking…
Thanks Austin Town Hall!
Fishboy at J & J’s on September 13, 2014
Fishboy brought a few songs from their upcoming pachyderm-themed album down to the J & J’s basement last night. This was my first time seeing them with Samuel Escalante, and he’s a great addition to the lineup. Look for their new album sometime in the next month or so.
I did too many rock moves at this show and came home bruised.
